  • Resolved steffevans

Ive spent ages creating a child theme for my site and it was all working perfectly.

Then I installed a couple of Plugins (Headspace and WP Title2) and all of a sudden, my site has no “style” at all. Ive checked that I can still see links to the stylesheet.

Ive deactivated, deleted and reinstalled both plugins. Ive now gone back to the Twentyeleven theme and that isnt working either.

    The site is

Any help gratefully received – Im a webdesigner rather than a developer, so this is beyond my ability really!

Did you change the Site URL of the website?

Ive tried downloading a new version of WordPress and Im copying over the files – Ive copied all the files in the root, and all the wp-admin files and wp-includes. Still looks the same.

If I do a complete re-install, will it lose the content in the database?

It doesnt make any difference which theme I use – Ive tried twentyten as well – none of them are showing any styling.

Oh god!! Ive just done a re-install of 3.4.1 and it still looks just the same – it must be something on the database side of things!!

    What do I do now?

There seem to be permission problems with the theme directory, because, usually one can access the theme’s style.css by entering the address ( in the browser, but an Error occurs instead:

You don’t have permission to access /wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/style.css on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

Perhaps the chmod for the theme directory has been altered in some way?

I know its not WordPress policy to delete threads but the client has found this thread via google and requested it be deleted. Is it possible, please?

It is not the general policy to edit or delete forum posts. When a post is made and people contribute answers to an issue, that then becomes part of the community resource for others to benefit from. Deleting posts removes this added value. In extreme circumstances, the moderation team might be persuaded to remove sensitive information but. generally, your best course of action is not to publish anything that you wouldn’t want to be public. I’m sorry but this is not an extreme case.
