Akismet has Activated Itself?

    Greetings! We love CF7 and Flamingo.

    I have been receiving sporadic reports of submissions failing from our Contact Form. I went through the Flamingo queue and I found that the failed messages were being flagged as spam. The reason that they were flagged as spam was because the messages contain “forbidden” words.

    Presumably, “forbidden” words are being blocked by Akismet, not by ReCAPTCHA v3. However, I have never activated Akismet on any of my form fields. I have Akismet set up to filter comments, but I’ve never set it up for CF7.

    This seems to be something new (starting in July) but I am not 100% sure.

    I have not successfully reproduced exactly which forbidden word is causing the problem. I have the suspicion that it is “donate” or “donation” … which is unfortunate, since our web site is set up to receive donations for Veterans, and that is what people are contacting us about.

    Any suggestions?

    I suppose you have already checked the spam log. What log message do you exactly see in the Status box?

    I see, for all the messages:

    Spam log: Blacklisted words are used.

    The message says it’s been marked as spam because of blacklisted words. It has nothing to do with Akismet.

    What content do you have in the comment blocklist?

    Oh my … I was not aware that the WP comment blocklist (Disallowed Comment Keys) would apply to contact forms. I am not sure that I paid much attention to the comment blocklist at all since I have not had troubles with comments.

    My blocklist comprises 39,557 tokens. I don’t where it came from. However, that is neither a Contact Form 7 nor an Akismet issue. Administrator Error.
