    Hello,

MailChimp for WP was working fine several weeks ago, and has just now stopped working. I have followed the threads on this topic, and have contacted my hosting provider. Here is the response from my hosting provider (A2 Hosting). My account is in good status on MailChimp. MailChimp is returning this error: “Service unavailable”.

I contacted my hosting provider and here is their response.

The issue appears to be Akamai (the CDN-type service MailChimp uses) is not allowing the connection from your server’s IP address (75.98.175.121). MailChimp would need to contact them to correct this. Providing the error message returned may help them as well:

    {“type”:”akamai_error_message”,”title”:”akamai_503″,”status”:503,”ref_no”:”Reference Number: 00.443303d8.1481395743.6eb1e5″}r

    Hello @janetschaper,

Thank you for sharing all the details. Akamai is the firewall used by MailChimp. The error indicates your server IP is blocked. The only way to resolve this would be to move your website to another server with different IP address. If you are on a shared hosting, then even if one user hosted on the same server abuses MailChimp systems, then the server IP is blocked. Sometimes this resolves automatically within few days, but if it does not, changing your website to another server with different IP address is the only solution.

I hope that answers your query. Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for the very informative explanation, I did not realize that “any” website on the shared server that abuses MailChimp would result in the entire server being blocked. Makes sense. I have asked my hosting provider to move my website to a different server. I really appreciate your explanation on this!

    Janet
