    A perfectly simple plugin ruined with AI data harvesting & upsells, i.e.

    • a “Cron AI” feature that registers the plugin with the WordPress Abilities API so AI assistants can list, run and pause cron events
    • a dismissable “new home” panel pushing their other plugins

    Ironically someone will use AI to create a de-bloated version same as ArtCratft has with other software.

    Stay away. Or stay on version 1.21.2

    Hi libertytalk, thanks for the honest feedback, and sorry the update felt like bloat.

    To clear one thing up: there’s no data harvesting. WP Crontrol doesn’t send anything off your site. No tracking, no phoning home. The only outbound requests are the cron spawn WordPress already does and any URL events you create yourself.

    The Cron AI part uses the Abilities API that’s built into WordPress 6.9. It just describes what the plugin can do, and only admins can use it. Nothing happens unless you connect an AI assistant to your site yourself, and it can’t create or edit PHP or URL events.

    The plugin suggestions can be dismissed for good, and they don’t load anything from outside your site.

    Also worth knowing: all the old Pro features (event logs, alerts) are now free in the main plugin.
