• Hello Everybody

I’m having a major problem with WP. This morning I noticed a lag time with my dedicated server so a ticket was submitted to review problem. They apparently re-booted the system and now my WP is prompting me to the install.php page. I have can still see all my files, and databases in my Host admin cpanel. I re-upload a backed up wp-config.php file but no dice. What else could be causing this problem?

  • Have you checked the WP database? Is all of the data intact?

Wow!! apparently somebody hacked my DB and placed _gdsr after wp on some tables. I changed them back but I still get the install page

Could he have placed a re-direct on the DB?

Hmmm. You’re not using/have used a star rating plugin by any chance are you?

    yes I am

I actually updated it this morning

Presumably the _gdsr references you’ve seen in the tables are related to this plugin then?

Aw DIP!!! Did I make this problem worst by renaming those tables ?!?! I totally forgot I had that installed?!

So if that wasnt the problem then what could be causing my application to re-direct to the install.php page?

Does your host offer any sort of roll back? Might be easier doing that than trying to troubleshoot this one now!

If not, start by renaming your plugins directory to something else temporarily (like ‘plugins2’ or something) to see what effect that has (and to see if it’s that plugin causing problems).

I contacted my hosting company they apparently don’t have the rollback solution. I also renamed the plugin directory no dice either. Im may just have to start from scratch again

    ~O~

Well, if you’ve got no content to lose, then yes, that probably is the easiest solution.

Otherwise, check your .htaccess for extra characters, stuff that shouldn’t be there etc. Triple check your wp-config.php file. Re-create it using the wp-config-sample.php file provided with fresh installs and manually copy the details from your old wp-config.php into it if you’re unsure. Then upload the new one as wp-config.php.

Still no joy after that, re-upload WordPress by FTP – don’t overwrite, delete the existing files first. (just keep your wp-config.php details safe)
