Advanced registration/searchable register

May be the wrong title for this question, but I hope to achieve something that seem impossible right now… or have I just been looking in the wrong places?

I’m creating a user-profile and login-based site. I want the register-form to be taged/hooked/linked/or-what-ever to the result-page of the search bar-function.
By this I mean that visitors to my site will be able to search for “musician” or “conducter”, and user-profiles with this title will appear in the result-listings, if you know what I mean?

Is there a simple way to create a register-form where some fields can be made indexed/searchable (excuse my english-skills), and show up in the result-page? Like job-titles for example?
