So just to clarify, I’m on WordPress.com, but there doesn’t seem to be any other way for me to contact support for this plugin.

I’m trying to get to the root of an issue where all of my AdSense ads disappeared from my entire site after I did an update to the Advanced Ads plugin. It had been running perfectly for two years or so. I talked to WP support and Google support and it sounds like Advanced Ads is having an issue connecting to AdSense, but I have no idea why that would be because all of the information is correct. This is the error message I get:

invalid response received while renewing access token for “pub-####” You could try to connect again under Advanced Ads > Settings > AdSense.

I just want to make sure of what that means before I go in and potentially mess anything up. Does this basically mean I need to revoke permissions and then go through setup with AdSense all over again? And if so, what can be done to avoid this issue in the future?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi Erin,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I checked back your website and found the AdSense code is added by SiteKit to your website. From my understanding of their software, you can now adjust your AdSense setting in your account and Auto Ads should populate your website if enabled.
It looks that there is also a second AdSense code implementation present. This creates an error in your browsers’ console, which should not cause any trouble but can be solved by following the steps in the linked manual.

If you want to manage your AdSense code integration and the placement of ads using Advanced Ads please re-connect your AdSense account as suggested. This enables the option to manage your ad units manually and place them on your content as requested.

And if so, what can be done to avoid this issue in the future?

I am not quite sure what was the origin of this behaviour, but AdSense recently changed their ad code and API and assume these events maybe related. One suggestion to avoid issues like this might be to also advertise using other networks or affiliate marketing.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,
    Henning
