Do you have access to the hosting account used to host the website? If so, the link below has a couple of options to set the admin password.

Hi George, many thanks for your prompt reply. I tried the option to change your password via Users but the User option doesn’t appear on the Dashboard list – any thoughts on how I can expand the list? I should say that I am a complete novice with this but I have a bucket of common sense and can follow instructions! Thank you again, Joan

That’s an administrator-level function. If you don’t have an administrator account (as I understood from your question), then you cannot use that option.
You’ll need to access the site’s database using something like phpMyAdmin and change the password for the administrator account (that’s why I asked if you have access to the hosting account for the site). The steps are outlined in the support article I gave above, but you need to have access to the site’s hosting control panel to do this.
