• I’ve succeeded in installing wordpress on my laptop, but I can’t access the admin area. /admin.php shows a list of files starting with ‘parent company’. /index.php shows the index page ok. I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the permissions settings. The wp.admin folder is set to read_only and as I’m using windows I can’t do anything to change it.

I’ve also got problems accessing wordpress on my server. I was able to have wordpress blog installed from my control panel. It set up the database, and set the database name, username and password. When I try to access admin I get the following message

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at http://www.foldername.co.uk. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    /index.php shows a 500 error.
I’ve sent an email to support and I’m waiting for a reply. Meanwhile, does anyone know of anything I can do to get wordpress running properly?
