Admin password not accepted after upgrade

There is a reason why I don’t normally update software that works just fine as it is….

Anyhow – after upgrading to the latest version of WP i noticed an issue in the dashboard with some links being unresponsive. After disabling all the plugins I found the culprit & deactivated it.

Since that point I’m unable to login to wp-admin with my admin password & when i ask for the password to be sent i receive the message:

“The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…”

There was an SMTP plugin of some sort there but i dont remember it actually being activated.

Any thoughts?
