Adding Widget into Content Area

    Is there a way to add a widget to the content area of my blog, but NOT in a blog/post.

    As a normal sidebar widget would show on every page, I want the same for this widget that could be in the content area.

    I have 1 excerpt at a time showing on the front page, which leaves some empty space until the bottom of the page. So this widget will fill in.

    Is this possible? If so can someone help?
