Adding trackbacks after a post has been published?

    I have a post that I want to edit and add a trackback link in the body. The problem is it doesn’t seem to want to send a trackback when you click on Save versus Publish. I have even tried putting the trackback in the “Trackback” section and it says “pinged” once I click save but the “trackback” is never sent to the site. I have verified this on two different blogs.
    I have no problem sending trackbacks when I publish the post for the first time. This only occurs when I attempt to edit a post and add a new link. Thanks in advance.

    Firstly, dont assume that because you do not see a trackback or a pingback on a site that it has not been sent.

    LOTS of people moderate comments, trackbacks and pingbacks are comments — you may not see one display on another site until its been taken out of moderation.

    If you really need to test these things — create a dummy post, and use yourself.

    1. Pingbacks are easiest sent by using the FULL permalink to post in your post content

    2. Trackbacks are sent by using the FULL trackback URL in the “send trackback” textbox.

    …Remember that you too may be moderating.

    If the post says “pinged” the ping was sent.

    Whooami thanks for the response. I should have stated the parameters I used for my test.

    Test 1
    Production blog:
    1. Created a new post, added the following Test Post Link
    2. Saved the post

    Result
    Ping showed up correctly under comment moderation for Test.Com
    Pings already sent showed http://test.com/test/?p=6

    Test 2
    Production blog:
    1. Edited the a new post, added the following Test Post Link #2
    2. Saved the post

    Result
    Ping did not show up under comment moderation.
    Pings already sent showed http://test.com/test/?p=6 and http://test.com/test/?p=7

    I repeated this same test from my test blog to my production blog. The results were exactly the same. For some reason it appears when you edit a post the ping isn’t getting sent even though the post says that it is.

    Hope that makes it clearer.

    im sorry, I dont have a clue what test.com is.. you havent indicated clearly whether or not thats a site that you can verify is moderated or isnt moderated.

    I can tell you that I have a 2.1.3 sandbox blog, and that I cannot reproduce what you are describing.

    Pings and trackbacks work, as long as they are sent correctly. (for me)
