  • I was having an issue with a fresh install of WordPress for a new site I am working on. I was finding that my text edit areas of posts and pages was not active – no formatting bar, no ability to toggle between text and html, or to click inside the text area. I found this page in the codex, which suggested adding

    define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

    to my wp_config. This solved the problem. The codex said to remove the code and report it on the forums if the line solved the issue, so here I am. This problem is also fixed if I switch to a default theme instead of Woothemes’ Canvas that I would like to use. This leads me to believe there is a conflict with the theme, but I’m a bit confused as to why since both Canvas and WP are fresh installs and the latest versions of both. Also, why script_debug would fix the error?

  • If the problem only occurs in Canvas, you need to talk to WooThemes about that – these forums don’t support commercial themes.
