Well that’s a bit tricky, because just changing the name via ftp will cause errors on your blog. And just changing the url in the admin panel, will cause errors as well.
The best way to do this is to search in the WordPress Codex or Docs menu, I know there is a page that exactly helps you to do this. Except I am at work and can’t get to the codex or docs on wordpress somehow. Maybe there is someone else who can?

handy…
my client does want to pull other blogs feeds…here’s another statement he made…
“lets have 10 feeds per page- all automotive news related. you can google for automotive news and also the url of the page you are getting feeds for ie cayenne turbo news, information, and then get the rss feed code.”
which plugin is it that i want to download?
codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Syndication
Ok drew – for the url changing, have a look at http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_Within_Your_Site (read it before starting!). It isn’t hard, just follow the steps in the right order.
As far as pulling feeds from other blogs into your blog as posts… I’ve not done much of that personally, so can’t really suggest anything. I know the author of CG-Feedread is here in the forums a lot… I’ve also heard positive things about FeedWordPress. If either of those don’t trip your trigger, do some searching here in the forums 🙂

thanks handy! i’ll give that a try now!
i was actually doing fine building some feeds in my blog and all of a sudden it broke on me
http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress/
the other pages seem to be fine but the home page is really messed up. should i be posting this in another forum?

actually handy…i can’t do that because we actually want to keep http://www.paintlessbusinss.com
that site has a link to our blog. originally we wanted wordpress inside that already existing website. but it would require editing of php…just too much work right now because i’ve got a dozen or more of his sites i need to implement wordpress to.
so i’m just gonna leave it as /wordpress for now.
thanks though…you and everyone here have been so helpful…i’m gonna nail this stuff down and live in here and help others…at some point 🙂
First section on that page I linked should help you simply change directories, but stay on same domain.

ok handy..thanks…i’m a bit upset right now…
i spent time with that site putting feeds in and when i went back my template and everything is gone…is this a wordpress issue you think?

http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress
Well, appears you fixed it. I see a functioning blog there.

yes handy i fixed it…but the domain is the only problem…right now it’s http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress/ but i need to make it http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/paintless
my fear in doing what those instructions you gave me is…i’d have to change the paths to some files…i dont wanna screw it up…should i do it anyways?

# In the box for WordPress address (URI): change the address to the new location of your main WordPress core files.
# In the box for Blog address (URI): change the address to the new location, which should match the WordPress address (URI).
i did this and it gave me a Not Found error and now my page is messed up again.
i followed the instructions EXACTLY as it says and it messed it up again. this is crazy

It’s not as easy as just changing some settings. You’re gonna need to change the name of the folder in which WordPress resides, too.
Change the wordpress URL like you did before in your Options, then use FTP to change the name of the “wordpress” folder to “paintless”.
