    I am thinking that downloading media should just be a simple button someplace in the backend.

    Perhaps in Settings – Media and/or someone directly on the Media Library screen.

    There is a special core plugins chat on the following Tuesday (very very late India time) so you can check the logs afterward.

    What about working with the guy who has made Export Plus: https://wordpress.org/plugins/export-plus/
    and https://github.com/hlashbrooke/Export-Plus

    Do also check: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27048

    It would be great to incorporate your code into his plugin making it even more powerful to export content from WordPress. Hopefully his plugin can also be incorporated into Core down the road or something similar that improves exporting and importing WordPress content.

    Yip – if we could work together to make one solid export tool then that would be awesome. Pop an issue on the Export Plus repo and submit a pull request so I can check it out 🙂
