Your question is actually answered in the FAQ section of the plugin. The way you’re trying to do it is WordPress’ default way, which is not flexible enough for the slideshow.

Hi thanks for your response I should have also said I have tried to click on the ‘Insert Image Slide’ and there is no popup of anything to add pictures.

The reason I tried the above method was that I saw a post and they advised to do that….

Perhaps another plugin is conflicting with the slideshow plugin, if you disable all plugins except Slideshow it may work. If you can now insert images using the pop-up, re-enable all plugins one at a time until the problem returns. Then you could tell me what plugin is conflicting with Slideshow and I’d be able to fix it.

If after disabling all other plugins the pop-up still won’t show, please tell me what browser you’re on and if you’re WordPress version indeed is version 3.4.1 (a WordPress installtion below version 3.3 won’t work).

Also, do you use the default admin pages, or has it been customized?
