Adding icons before entry titles?
-
Hi everyone! Looking for a bit of advice as to how to implement icons / image files before the post titles on my website. I’m currently using a very outdated plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/title-icons/ that lacks much of any sort of customization, and which I would very much like to move away from using.
I’ve struck out so far following various other guides I’ve seen online to achieve the same effect. The first one I consulted on EngageWP seemed promising, using custom fields tied to categories in order to identify which icons should be used in which post titles, but the code for it apparently no longer works in recent versions of WordPress?
Ideally, what I would like to be able to do would be something similar to the way that the aforementioned guide knows to pull icons: Checking for the presence of one (or possibly two) categories / custom fields, associating said descriptors with icon files on the site, and inserting them before the entry title. For reference, my site deals in video game reviews, and the graphics I would like to be able to load are icons to indicate what type of content the attached articles are (whether they’re game or console reviews), and the ESRB ratings of the games I cover on my site.
Any help in accomplishing this would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you for your time!
