Adding Content to home page

I have a page set up as the home page, it uses ‘Default layout – Left sidebar’ with ‘Default Template’ set as the template.

The page has a slider set via the Gallery and switching the slider to say ‘yes’… it’s the setting that comes with Customizr.

I then have three featured pages set up via appearance > customize.

I am now trying to insert further data underneath, I’d like a posts slider or even just having posts appear underneath and a gallery, contact form etc.

It seems nothing shows after the featured post with short codes, if I type hello it shows but nothing else will.

Is there a reason behind this? Is there a work around?
