adding code

I am using the plugin SyntaxHighlighter Evolved to add code to my posts, but when I go to use the shortcode in the DW Q&A it does not work, I can see highlighted code and line numbers but brackets show up as unicode (so < appears as <) and also lines do not break.

I checked my code first in a post and it works fine, until I paste it in to the Q&A (either a question or answer)

Any suggestions?
