-
All has been working well until today when I tried to upload an image to a post I was creating. I got the following error:
“The requested URL was rejected. If you think this is an error, please contact the webmaster.
Your support ID is: 5378948895058582898″I have tried the following:
– tried the multi-file and browser uploader
– clearing browser cache
– using a different browser (Firefox instead of Chrome)
– disabling all plugins
– CHMODing the images directory to 777I love my WordPress. Did I break something somehow?

Hi apples52,
I’m trying to reproduce your issue but cannot. Here are my steps taken:
1. Logged in as admin
2. Clicked Posts > Add New
3. Clicked Add Media
4. Clicked Select Files
5. Selected a JPG file (e.g., cars-3.jpg)
6. Clicked Choose
7. Clicked Insert into post
–> success!I am running WordPress 4.0 within a MAMP 3.0.7.3 environment and using Mac Safari 8.0 to administrate it. What exact steps did you take to hit the bug? Moreover, what version of WordPress, etcetera are you using?
Hi Randy! Thanks for your response. I’m running WP 4.0 and I’ve tried using the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari to troubleshoot. All give me the same problem which leads me to think it’s not a browser issue.
Here’s how I encounter the error:1. Log in as the admin
2. Clicked Media –> Add New
3. Select Files
4. Choose a JPG file (have tried multiple files)
5. Click Open
6. Shows the “crunching” progress bar along with the error message I described above.Plugins I’m using include:
Gantry Framework and Rok Common Files plugin
Akismet
WordFence
Wordpress SEOThe last two have updated recently, but even when I disable them the problem still exists.
This is very strange. I am having the same issue but I am not running WordPress on my site. I came across this from searching the error in Google. I have a form for my client to fill out to change content and upload images. I am using the ckeditor but that stopped working and when you try to upload an image, the page says:
“The requested URL was rejected. If you think this is an error, please contact the webmaster.

Yeah you gotta LOVE WordPress!
I’m getting the same errors… and it happened randomly. Didnt do anything, didnt install anything… just happened.
So far, in ONLY a month of using WP, had so many bugs its unbelievable!
I’m guessing its not like this all the time, otherwise WP wouldnt have made a good reputation right!? But I’m starting to lose patience now!
My post editor has vanished and can’t fix it, I have to “Disable the visual editor when writing” in USER PROFIL in order to at least see something in my post box.Anyhow.. I really dont know whats the deal.
Any luck on this bug now? If we cant even upload any media… what use it WP?
Hi apples52,

What I would try next, before reporting your bug (see http://codex.wordpress.org/Reporting_Bugs), would be to switch back to the default WordPress theme as well as disabling all non-default plugins (which I believe you’ve already done). I would also contact your host and give them the bug report too. Beyond this, being that I am a Software Test Engineer, I am not sure what else for you to do. But I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how you finally get the issue resolved. Good luck my friend! πI also encountered this issue this morning when I was trying to open the page of online qoute of a financial company, the message is
The requested URL was rejected. If you think this is an error, please contact the webmaster.
Your support ID is: 5378948895133347790It is strange the web page can be easily opened by 3G.
It seems the issue has connection with the IP address through which the request is made.
If you have solution to the isuue, please post
bigword,
Interestingly, I just tried the same process from a different location (with a different IP) and it worked just fine..And now I’m back home and as randomly as this started, now everything is working again. Maybe my IP address changed as it sometimes will do with my ISP.
I’m still curious as to what caused this all to happen..apples52,
Thank you for your response, I was googling this morning but there is no definite answer.
I know the internet service provider of my area is updating their system to LTE. Hopefully this issue will disappear later.
apples52 and bigWord!!!
This is awesome news!!! I am thrilled. Hopefully, at some point, we’ll get to the core issue of what is going on but for now at least we have what appears to be a workaround for the situation. Note that most folks are dynamically assigned IP addresses from their ISP (as opposed to the IP address being statically assigned). Thus, if the issue does have something to do with an actual IP address, as opposed to an entire network, then when someone hits this issue again they could test to see if the workaround truly works by renewing their DHCP lease — which should change their IP address.
Anyway, CONGRATS!!! π
This evening, before I went out for dinner with my family, I turned off the router.
When I returned home, I turned on the router and computer, surprisingly, I found everything returned to normal, I could open the web page and the message did not appear again.
I am experiencing this every day randomly editing pages or media in the backend of word press. I find not hammering the database with changes to the same page too fast seems to help…? I can find no clear answer on the web, although many people are talking about it – no solutions. I can close that particular offending browser page and wait for some time, or I can close the browser completely and it works again immediately. Maybe some kind of timeout is happening on the server with the browser session? Once one browser page that is open has the error, then other pages open in the same browser will fail also. HOW it initially becomes a problem I don’t know. Has anyone nailed this down?
@ziponline – could you start your own thread here, please:

These kinds of issues are site specific and this thread is outdated, so not a good place to get help. Thanks!
