Add fields to WordPress user

FER: can we use CCTM to add fields to a user? User is not a post-type, however I can imagine a scenario where this might be very useful. We already use CCTM for the rest of the site, so why bother installing a User Profile Plugin just to show photos and Twitter handles. Curious what you can come up with. Pointers appreciated!
