Add different background colour to a paragraph

    I have tried to add a different colour background to a paragraph by applying the inline style ‘<div style=”background-color: ffff99;”>’
    It shows correctly in the Visual viewer in WordPress but it doesn’t work when I check it on my browser. I’ve checked using IE11 and Chrome Vs 31.0.1650.63 m. Any suggestions?

    Add the pound sign (#) before your custom color code. #ffff99

    Thank you, feeling very silly now. I could have sworn I put it in there! Anyway, hope this thread helps others who may wish to use the same technique and aren’t that familiar with html.
