Hi, there’s an error with my WordPress dashboard, in the plugin section it says at the bottom of the page:
“If you have a moment, please let us know why you are deactivating:

    The plugin suddenly stopped working
    I found a better plugin
    The plugin broke my site
I only needed the plugin for a short period
I no longer need the plugin
It’s a temporary deactivation. I’m just debugging an issue.”

Initially I couldn’t figure out what plugin was being referred to because I hadn’t deactivated anything. But on deactivation I saw it was Content Aware Sidebars that was deactivated. On reactivation the message appears again, this happens whenever I repeat this process.

In the error logs of the site I’ve seen this error message:

    WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT option_value FROM wp4t_options WHERE option_name = ‘fs_storage_logger’ LIMIT 1 made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), require_once(‘wp-load.php’), require_once(‘wp-config.php’), require_once(‘wp-settings.php’), include_once(‘/plugins/content-aware-sidebars/content-aware-sidebars.php’), require(‘/plugins/content-aware-sidebars/freemius.php’), cas_fs, fs_dynamic_init, Freemius::instance, Freemius::_load_required_static, FS_Logger::get_logger, FS_Logger::init, get_option

The site host is saying this plugin may be causing a MySQL issue, any ideas on this? I have this plugin on several sites with no issues.

    Thank you for reporting this.

The error message sounds like the MySQL connection times out for some reason.

The other sites where the plugin is working fine, do they use the same host?
Do you know what versions of PHP and MySQL your host is using?
Does the problem remain if you deactivate other plugins?

Hi Joachim, I’m pretty sure this was the host’s MySQL server falling over, and not any issue with the plugin. My host told me that my scripts were taking to long to execute, which since all WordPress sites on that same server fell over, seems unlikely

I installed John Blackbourn’s Query Monitor and no slow queries were consistently found on any page of the problem site. It measures just about every aspect of site functioning and found no issues.

As to the erroneous message, again I don’t think your plugin was the culprit. I updated the theme, Themify’s Ultra, and the message disappeared.

Thanks for the response though, appreciate it.
