Activation Crashes

    I installed version 3.1 but when I activate it it gives a fatal error. The debug.log says

    It’s kind of hard to figure out if this plugin will do what I want if I can’t activate it.

    Hi @leswoolsey ,

    Thanks for sending the log. We checked it against Category AJAX Filter 3.1.

    That line is a PHP notice, not a fatal error, and it is not from this plugin. The text domain in the message is ambition, which belongs to the Ambition theme. This plugin’s text domain is category-ajax-filter. WordPress added this notice in version 6.7 when a theme loads translations too early. The same message is already reported on the Ambition theme support forum: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/function-loaded-too-early/

    It is written to debug.log on normal page loads while debugging is turned on, including the moment you click Activate, so it can look connected even though it does not stop this plugin from running.

    Please check Plugins → Installed Plugins and see whether Category AJAX Filter shows as Active. If the site is showing WordPress’s “There has been a critical error on this website” message, look in debug.log for a separate line that starts with PHP Fatal error at the same time, and paste that line here. The notice you already sent is not that error.

    The plugin is not activated. Every time I try it says there is a fatal error. Here is a snippent from debug.log when I tried to activate it.

    Studying this more, i cleared the log and tried again and I found this message:

    I can also confirm that deactivating the Quick Event manager allows me to activet your plugin.

    It would be nice to be able to have both plugins working together.

    Hi @leswoolsey ,

    Thank you for clearing the log and testing again. That fatal error is a naming conflict: both Category AJAX Filter and Quick Event Manager declare a function named duplicate_post(), so PHP stops when the two plugins are active together. Deactivating Quick Event Manager lets ours activate, which matches what you found.

    We are fixing this so both plugins can run at the same time, and we will release the update today. After you update Category AJAX Filter, you can activate Quick Event Manager again and use them together.
