• Hi there, I am new to all of this and bought a website awhile ago. I have this thing at the top of my wordpress control area (wp-admin) saying something is wrong because I have a 16 past due actions in the action scheduler (which I don’t really understand what that is)

I’m using a Mac on Tahoe in the Firefox browser, everything’s up to date.

There’s not really a step to reproduce the issue, it’s just always there. it shows this: https://www.pasteboard.co/R2LMAlND2kka.png

I’ve read the documentation but I don’t really understand how to fix it, and the page about it (https://actionscheduler.org/faq/#my-site-has-past-due-actions-what-can-i-do) said to come here. Does anyone know how I can start to address this problem?

    Thank you in advance,

    T

    Hey @tpiet,

Action Scheduler is a background task system that WooCommerce and other plugins use to run scheduled jobs, so seeing a few past-due actions doesn’t necessarily mean something is seriously wrong.

Go to WooCommerce > Status > Scheduled Actions tab > Pending and look for the past-due entries. Check their hook names and scheduled dates, and if any show an error. That should help you determine what’s causing the backlog and whether anything actually needs fixing.

    Hi @tpiet!

Hi there, and welcome! Thanks for providing all the details and for sharing the screenshot.

I understand that Action Scheduler can be confusing, especially when you’re new to WordPress/WooCommerce. The “past due actions” notice means that some scheduled background tasks have not run at their expected time. The cause can vary, so we’ll need a little more information to determine why this is happening on your site.

To help us investigate, could you please share the following?

    • WooCommerce → Status → System Status Report
    • Any relevant error logs from WooCommerce → Status → Logs

You can share the error log through Pastebin. If possible, please enable “Burn after read” when sharing the log so it is automatically removed after being viewed.

In the meantime, you can also check whether the pending actions are able to run successfully:

    1. Go to WooCommerce → Status → Scheduled Actions.
    2. Look for one of the actions marked as Pending or Past-due.
    3. Select an action and choose Run.
    4. Check whether it completes successfully or whether it changes to Failed.

Please let us know what happens when you run one of the pending actions. If it fails, sharing the error details along with the System Status Report will help us investigate the cause further.

    Thank you!
