We use ACF to upload and attach files to pages/posts. Some of our staff aren’t very good at deleting a file once they’ve removed the ACF entry.

What I’d like to be able to do is have a way to display if a file has an active connection to the ACF field we use to connect files to posts/pages (or perhaps how many connections it has).

I’ve tried creating a custom field with the following settings:

    Data Source: Template
Meta/Template: ([+acf:files(count)+]) (‘files’ is the field name)

Any ideas where I’m going wrong?

    Thanks!

Thanks for your question and for the custom field mapping rule excerpt. I’d like to get more information so I can give you specific guidance.

It looks like you found the “MLA Advanced Custom Fields Example” plugin; is that right?

If so, is the example plugin installed and active? Do you see the “MLA AC Fields” submenu in the Settings section?

Is the “files” field an ACF Image field? If so, have you checked the “Enable Image Fields” box on the example plugin’s General tab?

Can you post the complete custom field rule so I can duplicate it on my system?

Thanks for any additional information you can provide.
