Accessing a WordPress element outside the installation directory

    I have installed WordPress in a blog area of my site (http://www.firstpokertips.co.uk/blog/).

    I would like to show a list of recent articles on the homepage, which is outside the WordPress installation directory. Is this possible without changing the WordPress installation?

    I tried doing a php require on the root page but I am already out of my depth. Unsurprisingly it didnt work.
