Hi Geetar,
Anytime!
1.
It makes sure your description contains the best practices, automatically. By adding a few important keywords related to your website. It gives brand recognition and makes things a little more organic.
It’s ultimately up to you for if you wish to remove it or keep it; for instance, if your website’s name is long, you might wish to remove it to get more to-the-point keywords within the description.
2.
Situational. The default settings are recommended for most sites.
If you wish to dive into the circumstantial conditions, please check out my reply on this post (Question #1), which can help you make a better decision.
Duplicated title:
The next version will check for the duplicated title and will warn you about it within the SEO Bar.
If you notice any of the following:
- duplicated titles on only the home page
- that not all title settings are working
- that the additional Blogname removal settings are missing
- that the
<title> and the og:title tag are not the same
Then please check out the Title Fix extension plugin which is available within the plugin repository.
The next version of this plugin will have additional support for that extension, by adding back the now removed features because the theme is doing it wrong.
I hope this clears things up! Let me know if you require more assistance and I’ll get back to your ASAP 🙂
Thanks and have a great day!

Hi again Sybre,
Taking a look at the page source after installing your plugin, the meta description displays:
Title of the post “on my website” | And the description (shorter than usual).
Since I’m a complete ignorant about SEO, is this better for SEO purposes than just displaying the description? Because it adds the title twice (in different fields).
Thank you so much!
Hi George,
This all dates back to the use of keywords. This initially means that most authors wish their page to be ranked on their title.
This is quite understandable, as the title should give away instantly what the post is about. So having it also in your description is very natural, and organic.
This also goes for the Blogname. However, I do understand that some Blognames are much too long and will cut out important words from the description due to its length.
There’s an option within the Description Settings, within the SEO Settings page, that will allow you to remove the Blogname from the description.
This will automatically add a new layer of cache for the description, with new lengths (to go up to the 155 character length mark).
Feel free to try it out, the cache is handled by WordPress (or an optional transient caching plugin) and will automatically be cleaned up after a week.
I hope this clears things up! Thanks and have a wonderful day :).

Hi Sybre,
Thanks for your quick reply!
I understand everything now. I just asked this question because I know very little about SEO, and I was afraid that Google see that as “duplicated content”. Your explanation was pretty accurate, and helped me to understand how it works.
I’ve just noticed that by switching to The SEO Framework a few days ago, things are going better 😉
Best regards,
George
