@shelbymaguire Could you please try to turn off minify option and check if you still get the error?
I turned off the minify option. Here are the results:
On GTMetrix:
The performance went from 86% -> 84%, Structure went from 90% -> 89%, Largest Content paint went from 2.4s -> 2.6s, Total blocking time went from 35ms -> 99ms, Cumulative layout shift went from 0.01 -> 0.02.
On Google PageSpeed: Went from a score of 32 -> 26
Both total blocking time and time to interact say the way to “solve the problem” is with a caching plugin. But obviously, I am still having issues.
@shelbymaguire Could you please uncheck the option “Enable minification of JavaScript files” and “Enable merging of JavaScript files” form WP-Optimize > Minify > Javascript and click Save changes button and check if it helps to fix the issue?
@shelbymaguire Please “uncheck” those options “Enable minification of JavaScript files” and “Enable merging of JavaScript files” form WP-Optimize > Minify > Javascript and click Save changes button and check if it helps to fix the issue?
With both unchecked, per your message above:
GTMatrix
Grade: B
Performance Score: 84%
Structure Score: 89%
Largest Contentful Paint: 2.6s
Total Blocking time: 60ms
Cumulative Layout Shift: 0.01
Getting a new error with this configuration: “Use HTTP/2 for all resources”
Thanks! I have that. So after making the last change, my desktop score has improved a lot.
My mobile score is terrible. Total Blocking Time is 1.21s, Time to Interactive is 12.82s and First Contentful Paint is 3.21s. The advice is to get a caching plugin. Help! Should I try another plugin, as this one doesn’t seem to be working…
@shelbymaguire Could you please try to purge the cache and then try to Preload the urls wait for some time and then try to check the mobile score on Google Page speed insights?
Currently preloading urls – will get back to you on that.
In the meantime:
I have a question – On the “Page Cache” Tab, under “cache settings” I have Generate Separate Files For Mobile Divices” checked, with a cache lifespan of 24 hours. Is that configured correctly? Should I have “Activate Scheduled Cache Preloading” checked? If so, what should by schedule type be set to?
@shelbymaguire You can select “Same as cache lifespan”, if you have cache lifespan checked.
