• Dear all ,

Really need your help on this.

I’m working for this organisation that has a website on wordpress CMS
http://afca-arts.com . Just accessed it a few days ago, and discovered that the were 57 updates (plugins and wordpress version) to be done on the website.Had no previous experience with handling this and the developper of the website left the organisation few weeks ago without explaining anything.so basically pushed the update button for every plugin without having any back up for the website and left it. When i came back couldn’t access dasboard as it showed 500 internal server error :

    “Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@afca-arts.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

In addition username and password doesn’t work anymore.
and whenever i go on the website , it show’s this message:

“Could not retrieve the specified page. Please verify correct href was passed in.”

Please , i don’t know what to do, and developer dissapeared and i have no backup for anyhting.

    Can someone help?

    the site link is http://www.afca-arts.com

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Dear Esmi,

The problem is i didn’t even download or use FTP (don’t have FTP aCCOUNT or PhpMyadmin (guess i’m stupid, first time user of wordpress) or even have any backup.
all the information i had was the username and password to enter the dashboard but outside of that didn’t use anything else.
so i stupidely accessed the dashboard and updated the website without having any back up.

I would gladly reset the plugins but i can’t access the dashboard.

the problem is i’m really a novice, and really not an expert. And the person who created this site and who was handling till now dissapeared. Do you think there is a solution?

You can get your FTP information by the customer service of your hosting. Generally (most times) people receive an email when they first get their hosting account which has that information on it.

However, that often times get’s lost and people can go back to the customer service of their host provider. (the place you host your website) and they can help you get the FTP information so that you can login to the server that way.

I suggest using winscp.com ‘s ftp program, it’s pretty decent, however some people are more familiar with filezilla.

Ask your hosts if they have a file manager that you can use.
