Is there anything in the error logs though?
Where exactly can this be found? Is there a particular folder or file name?
Hi I have a problem with a client’s site which is being hosted on HostGator,
Also getting an internal server error when accessing the blog:
http://www.moreclients.com.au/blog
this is more difficult as we can’t even get into the admin section.
i checked a previous blog which i can’t post to because it states the issue is resolved,
but they ask for an error log,
well here’s my error in the error log:
[Wed Nov 26 04:09:04 2008] [alert] [client 75.126.250.173] /home/taki/public_html/blog/.htaccess: Invalid command ‘SecFilterEngine’, perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration
if anyone knows anything which might be helpful, would really appreciate it,
also here’s a list of the plugins used:
askimet
audio-player
communications
image-upload-http-error-fix
member-wing
members-only
register-plus
stats
wp-phpmyadmin

hello
@natzca: SecFilterEngine is a setting in your .htaccess. Apparently your host doesn’t support it, or… something. In any case, you need to remove it from your .htaccess file (in the root directory of your install, most likely).
@thebluesblogger: I currently don’t see a problem on your site, but it may be related to the .htaccess file as well. a lot of 500 errors come from something caused in the .htaccess. If you are using permalinks try changing them and see if you have that problem, or try renaming your .htaccess temporarily and see if you still have those problems with .htaccess disabled(renamed). There are a lot of things that could cause a 500 error, what confuses me is why it only happens when you make a change and why it just goes away after clearing your cache.
@bernardborealis: thanks for the suggestion, I had a look in that directory and can’t find the .htaccess file, could there be a funny redirect that uses it in a different location?
@bernardborealis:hey mate, i just found it, and deleted the SecFilterEngine info,
and it worked! thanks heaps, i know how to trouble shoot for future issues too,
cheers
Hi natzca,
I have the same problem.
Where do you find the .htaccess file?
Thanks
