After updating to 5.8.1 yesterday I can’t update widgets. If I try to edit from one of the sub pages (where the edit is on the left and the rest of the page a preview) the contents of “widgets” is just spinning and and no details come up as before, same if I am approaching from the control panel side, plus I get tons of error messages (I can send screen grabs)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • This is likely due to your theme not being compatible with the new WordPress widget system.

You’re sunning version 4.6.1 of the Enfold theme.

From the theme’s changelog, I see version 4.8.5 has this line:

tweak: disable new WP block editor widget screen as not supported by theme at the moment

So even the newer 4.8.5 is not compatible… but I don’t know if the latest version 4.8.7.1 (released Nov 2nd 2021) is compatible or not, as I don’t see this mentioned at all in any of the several releases since 4.8.5.

So I’ll advise you to update your theme, as any version past 4.8.5 should either fix the root problem… or at least disable the new Widgets system and restore the old system.

Updating your theme is highly recommended. But if you’re unable to do so immediately, as a quick temporary solution, install the Classic Widgets plugin to disable the new Widgets system and restore the old system:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-widgets/

If you continue to have problems with this, please contact your theme’s vendor for help with it, as Enfold is a commercial product so we’re unable to install it and help you out here.

    Good luck!
