I cannot access my admin dashboard I constantly get a page with this

    “403 Forbidden Error Page

If you arrived here due to a search or clicking on a link click your Browser’s back button to return to the previous page. Thank you.

IP Address: (removed for this post)

I am able to log in to my sight but as soon as I try access the dashboard to edit my site I get sent to a page with the above text. I have attempted to remove my .htaccess files, I have renamed my plug in folder and I still get a 403 Forbidden Error Page but it is a different style and does not have the above text. I do belive this may be from Bullet Proof Security plugin as it was the last one I had installed before this problem accorded but with the deleting the .htaccess folder and changing the plugin folder name I would have thought it to be fixed now. I did not have any issues though after installing the plugin I was able to access everything with no issue. I had not accessed the page for a few weeks and now when I attempt to I get the above error. So I am at a lost of what to attempt next any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I originally posted on the WordPress support page and was sent here.

Sounds like there is a problem with the /wp-admin/.htaccess file. Use FTP or your web host control panel file manager and delete the wp-admin .htaccess file. If that works to allow you to get to your Dashboard then go to BPS Custom Code and delete any custom .htaccess code that you have added in any of the BPS wp-admin Custom Code text boxes and click the Save wp-admin Custom Code button.

Well like I said I have already done that and just did it again and got the same result. I still get a 403 Error just it is not the same look or text as I posted. I just get a page that says “Error 403 Forbidden” With links that lead me to more of the same error page.

oh ok was not sure if you also deleted the wp-admin .htaccess file. What type of WordPress installation is this? Single standard/Network|Multisite installed in the same folder or a GWIOD – Giving WordPress Its Own Directory WordPress installation?

Also what is the folder structure of this site in your hosting account and do you have other websites installed in other folders.

    Example:
this site is installed in this folder: /websiteA/
another site is installed in this folder: /websiteB/

Oops I missed this very important clue – “…I still get a 403 Forbidden Error Page but it is a different style and does not have the above text…”
What that means is your server itself or something installed on your server is blocking something that you have installed or something on your website or under your hosting account somewhere. The different style/format is your server’s style/format page for 403 errors. So either check your server logs to find out what is causing the 403 error or contact your host support to have them check the server log file.

This is the only website I have. As for the structure I believe it is (/home2/drews27)/public_html
As for what type of install I am not sure, when I went into my cPanel I clicked on the option to install WordPress so what type of intall it is I really dont know.

See my last post. Since you deleted both BPS htaccess files and the 403 error is still occurring then the BPS .htaccess files are not causing the 403 error. The 403 error page that you are seeing is the Server’s 403 error page so that means your Server itself is blocking something. So either check your server log file to find out what is causing the 403 error or contact your host support to have them check the server log file.

A lot of hosts are now adding Brute Force protection on their server’s and I have seen a fair amount of cases where folks IP addresses have been accidentally blacklisted on the server. So that could be preventing you from getting to your WordPress Dashboard. Only your host can tell you if that is happening or not.

You can also try renaming your entire WordPress /plugins/ folder to see if another plugin is causing this problem. Example: rename to: /_plugins/ and try to login to your site.

Before contacting your host try and rename the /plugins/ folder and see if you can get to your Dashboard.
