I’ve had a couple of reports about people having update problems. I’m looking into what could be causing it and how to fix.

In the meantime, if you have this problem, deactivate or remove the old plugin (either via dashboard or FTP/File Manager) and install the new plugin directly from the repository. That should work quite well. Your data will be preserved.

Stay tuned and please report below if you’re having update issues.

    Thanks!

  • Hey David,

Thanks a lot for doing a great work on this plugin.
Just one request so far. In the latest version you’ve missed one important part, I’m about labeling the text that is following by form elements like inputs, selects etc.

The main reason: many people have customized/adopted the look of forms to their own websites, previous versions were good in that, but your latest one has broken the look at all πŸ™

please check the screenshot of how it was looking before and after update: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0194zmi346

Your quick update in that direction would be much appreciated πŸ˜‰

    Regards,
    Alex

Alex, are you using this with a theme, or is it your theme that you’re using Seamless Donations with? I’m asking because there are a few ways to approach this and if you’re the theme maker (which I’m guessing you are from the user name), there might be a different approach than for users and a random theme.

    –David

I’m using it with my theme.
Please give me a hint how it’s possible to avoid this kind of issue with no writing any custom code to the theme?

in other case I’d need to add a small hack again like I’ve added for checkboxes and radiobuttons for wrapping text with labels.

    Thanks for understanding,
    Alex

btw it’s more convenient and user friendly to use text wrapped with labels when you click that text and cursor stays onfocus in the field that belongs to it…

Still thinking about it. Which theme is it, and are you bundling the plugin with the theme, or just recommending it be downloaded?

Right now, the engine no longer places labels. I’m thinking about whether it makes sense to do some sort of special case to place labels on your behalf, or whether that increases the breakage chances too much.

I’ve got a few post-release bugs reported, so I will be issuing a 4.0.1 update shortly. It’s probably easier on your users to update the plugin than potentially have to update their entire theme. Could you please email me (http://zatzlabs.com/contact-us/) a link where I could download the theme and do some testing?

Alex, I’ve added this as a bug and awaiting your theme. I’m unpinning this post from the support forum because I want to pin another that has updated details for users who are upgrading. But I’m still paying attention to your theme issues.

    –David

    Hi David,

Unfortunately it’s impossible to give you a link for download the theme, because I’m actually selling it on marketplace. The people who are buying my theme are supposed to use your plugin as required for donation purposes. That’s why I’m asking about that kind of quick fix.

What I actually do in the theme, I’m just deregistering styles that your plugin uses and adding some extra styling (inbuilt into the theme) to reach my theme’s design and look. So to be able to better operate with the form elements it’s good to have labels for each form element there.

As for now I’ve suggested my customers to not update your plugin until this problem is sorted out.

    Thanks for your fast reaction.

I’ll take a look, but I’m kind of flying blind until I can see the theme. Not doing anything for another few days. I want to see how the update shakes out before I change any non-bug (and yours is not technically a bug, it’s an implementation decision) code.

Do you set any absolutely unique options that would be able to tell the plugin when your theme is running? One easy way (without adding UI elements or requiring your code to change) would be to look for a get_option and if it exists or set, blast in those label tags. That would add a quick compatibility mode for your theme, and shouldn’t impact anyone else. Let me know. Also let me know the name of the theme/vendor so I can reference that in comments, so we know why the code is there.

But it’s on my list, so I will get to it (and probably by end-of-weekend).

    –David

David, I’ve already solved that problem by adding some jQuery instances.
In any way that would be great if you just implement that stuff. For your reference here is a link to the theme I was talking about.

Wow, that is beautiful! Glad the jQuery instances helped, but I will look into adding back labels. If you want to provide me with a link to your shop, I’ll add it to the plugin’s resources page (soon to be added) so people using Seamless Donations can find your theme.

    Really excellent look.

    –David

Thanks for your nice feedback David. The theme is available for purchasing on themeforest, you can check it out here.

    Your cooperation is much appreciated!

Very nice. If you’re set, you can probably advise your customers to go ahead and update, although you could also wait a few days and see if anything new shakes out.

I’m running a website with the Pinboard theme and I am having the same design issues as ThemeMakers showed in his screenshot:

Any tips on getting things back to “normal”

I’ll take a look. Shouldn’t be too hard to test with. Probably just a need for CSS changes. Did you add Seamless Donations to Pinboard, or did it come with it?

    –David

    Hello David,

The form is on this page: http://www.landcruisingadventure.com/donate/

I added Seamless Donations to Pinboard.

The previous version of you plugin projected the boxes just fine, now… everything is askew. Hope you can help me out here…

    Adventurous greetings,
    Coen
