301 Redirect from Subdomain to Folder

Our blog was hosted on http://blog.example.com now we have moved this to http://www.example.com/blog
All the post URLs redirection has been taken care of but the index page blog.example.com still shows up. How can we redirect this to example.com/blog
Though adding this in index.php works but this is 302 redirection and not 301. Can someone help
