As the Really Simple SSL plugin would only insert a redirect from http:// -> https://, it looks like the redirect you described originates somewhere else.
But to answer your question, redirecting from
http:// -> https:// -> https://www.is considered best practice; which is also what tools such as HSTSPreload.org would require.Kind regards, Jarno
