2.2.2 Will not install

Version 2.2 fixed my problem of the double //, but 2.2.2 will not install. When I click the ‘update’ button, instead of showing the typical messages of deactivating the plugin, maintenance mode, etc., my webpage is displayed where those messages normally appear and the update does not happen. No error messages appear. Also, when I click ‘View version 2.2.2 details’ my webpage is displayed where there is normally info on the plugin update.
