  • Hi!

Thanks for trying out Wordfence. Here is a document with some settings to try adjusting on your end. This is the first place to start. Please report back if you are still having trouble.

    Thanks!

Just out of interest Brian, I’ve got 14 plugins and I’m scanning both them and the wp repository to detect changes as well as the standard scanning options. How long should a scan take? Is an initial scan longer? My initial scan has been going for over an hour now.

    Thanks,

    Kev

    Hi Brian
    thanks for the link.
FYI and others that might read this.
i changed the max_execution_time 15 and set a new scan.
    after this i got
Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean
so i changed the max_execution_time to 12 and set a new scan.

    scan completed with one problem
Comparing core WordPress files against originals in repositoryProblems found.
    wp-includes/default-constants.php
this problem is only because i got my host to increase my memory limit
    define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’40M’) to define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘128M’)

so i chose always ignore this issue.

All good now, scan compleated with no new issues.

    thanks again for your help

@gaz9012: Thanks for following up! The “stored data not found after a fork” is an issue our dev team is working on — it’s fairly rare, but might come up again if you have had it once.

@kevleitch: Usually scans shouldn’t take that long — on some hosts they may only take a couple minutes, but it depends on the host and the site’s content. We have a guide that may help, here: My scans don’t finish

If you’re still having trouble, please create a new post using the form at the bottom of the main forum page (here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wordfence ), and include a list of plugins you’re using and the last 10 lines of the “Scan Detailed Activity” window. Thanks!
