@juliaferraro Where are you trying to upload the theme? Please upload it to your website admin area under Appearance > Themes > Add New, not here https://wordpress.org/themes/getting-started/
I tried uploading theme and recieved same response. I see your answer, but i dont even know how to go to my website to do what youve recommended

Your WordPress install, will have a /wp-admin/ area. That’s where you can configure everything on your website. Once you are in it, please follow the original instructions: Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New and then you can upload the new theme ZIP file.

under Appearance > Themes > Where is the Add New???? I cannot find that option in order to add colormag theme

If you can’t find that option it’s probably you don’t have permissions to do so. Try contacting whoever install your WordPress to grant you access.

We are having the same problem. All of the themes we have tried from the theme page say “You need to upload a version of MH Magazine lite higher than 2.8.1. Increase the theme version number in style.css, then upload your zip file again.” How do we update the theme or get to appearences so we can try that?

@chattycomien The best way to install the theme is to go to Appearance > Themes > Add New and then search for Kale.
I can’t even get to the Appearance part! Where is the Main Page to find Appearance? Thanks!
