Points in league table do not update

    Hi,

    I’ve installed the SportsPress plugin to use it on my sports team website. I’ve added a sample of events and for each event I have set the result and result outcome(win/loss). I’m then trying to get the table updated but the points aren’t updating. All other statistics(wins, losses, goal difference) are updating but not the points and bonus points. I’ve set my plugin for rugby union. I tried to change the default setting to basketball and soccer, checked the table and the points updated but when I reverted back to rugby the points are all zero.

    Could someone help me out please?

    That’s exactly what we were looking for, thanks! 🙂

    The problem is indeed in the points formula. It seems to be loading a points stat, but there is no reference to it.

    How is your league table points usually calculated?

    Hi Bjorn!

    That’s what I thought. So you’ll need to edit this item in your table columns:

    You’ll set that formula to be win * 4 + draw * 2

    The sort order seems to be correct already, so fixing this should get your points formula working.

    Hi Roch,

    Thanks for the formula, very helpful and yes it did work! Awesome 🙂

    Before the formula was Pts = $points. Looks like $points was some sort of variable and in order to get the table updated I had to remove $points. Problem is I do not have the option to add it again from above if I need to. Do I need to add it again or was it just a mistake to have it there in the first place?

    Secondly, in rugby there’s a bonus point system. If a team loses by a slight margin they are still awarded a point. Or if a team scores a certain amount of tries they get a 1 point bonus. How can I add this to my equation please? Is it from Configure>Table Columns>BP>Edit? Mind you this equation has $bp as well like I explained in the previous paragraph. Or perhaps Configure>Event Results>BP>Edit?

    Hi Bjorn!

    That’s awesome, I’m glad it’s working now.

    I believe it was just a mistake, as this variable isn’t set in other places.

    In that case, the easiest way to add this is by creating an extra points event outcome. So you can add yet another element to your points formula.

    When adding the events if you see that a team has more points than that threshold you just need to add this event outcome (in addition to win/ loss/draw).

    I haven’t tried the bonus point formula yet but now that I know how the whole equation system works it shouldn’t be a problem to add.

    That’s great, I’m glad it’s all clearer now.

    If you need more help setting up the extra points just let us know.

    Also, a heads up, the extra event outcome may mess up the team’s total games count. So if you have a team with 10 games, but in the league table it has 12, that’s probably because of the extra points, but we can fix that by subtracting the extra points from the total games count.
