• Hi.

Somehow I am unable to access my website’s wp-login page. I get a 403 permission error. But only from my home ISP IP address. Works fine using my phone via 4G so I’m assuming it’s my IP address. Same issue on FF, IE and Chrome browsers.

    I’ve googled and checked:

    1) Permissions – all directories 755 and files 644
    2) .htaccess looks as standard – no white or blacklist IP addresses.

I don’t have any security plugins enabled.

I am stuck. What else can I try?

    Thanks

Ask your host to review their logs — they may have installed a plugin or setting that’s blocking you.

Host is very sure it isn’t them.

I don’t have any plugins installed and they don’t have access to the application so how could they install a plugin I can’t see?

I find it really hard to believe the host would actually be able to block wp-login and notice failed login attempts at this level. At the Control Panel, FTP, email etc yes, but at the WordPress login?

Does it hurt to ask? Yes, they may block logins. And your host has access to everything.

As above I asked they say it isn’t them.

    Any ideas what next?

You said you have no plugins. Really? Zero?

Nothing in .htaccess related to IP addresses?

What do you see in the site’s logs?

Please install the health check plugin and report back its findings: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/
