Categories not appearing in feed

We want to run a google shopping campaign where we put different bids on different product categories. However all our products are appearing under a single category. This is even though in wordpress they appear to be subdivided on the feed manager page into:
clothes and vests, scarves and jackets etcHow do we ensure that the categories appear in the google merchant centre please?
