The forced Network Activation for Multi-site is causing a big issue.

EVERY user is seeing this message – even if they don’t have a LinkedIn account.

“Your LinkedIn access token is invalid or has expired, please click here to get a new one.”

    How do I fix that?

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

    Hello,

Are you using only the WP-LinkedIn plugin or do you also have the Multi-User extension?

    Hi there.

Just the WP-LinkedIn plugin. Do I need the extension?

That behaviour is normal. The plugin is now active on each individual website and acts the same way it would on a standalone install (only the API key and secrets have to be configured at the network level). The admin of each website needs now to configure the plugin for themselves and get an Oauth token that gives the plugin access to their LinkedIn profile.

So everyone will always see that message at the top? What if they don’t have a LinkedIn Account? How do they get rid of the message?

The plugin doesn’t know if they have a LinkedIn account or not, if it’s active it’s assumed that they do have one and so there is a warning to say that the plugin is not properly configured.

Just deactivate the plugin for the websites whose owner doesn’t have a LinkedIn account.
