userId or VisitorID?

    Hi,
    I’m trying to collect User ID as per Google Analytics guidelines by it doesn’t work.

    In the plugin I checked “Logged in user ID” under Visitors. Is the VisitorId in the dataLayer the same variable known as User ID?, or are they two different things?

    Another method that I used was this other one (https://www.simoahava.com/gtm-tips/once-userid-always-userid/), but the userId shows as ‘undefined’ in the debugging/preview tool.

    Hi William,

    VisitorId in the dataLayer IS the user id, you can use this to read the value into a Data Layer Variable on the GTM UI. Have you done this? Have you added the newly created GTM variable to your GA tags in the “Fields to set” section?
