I have a WordPress site that has many gallery slideshows. The theme I currently use is Sydney. Whenever I click on a button of one of the slideshows I am taken to the top of the page. When I click on the up arrow in the bottom right corner of the page that appears when I scroll down a little bit it does nothing. I am not sure how this happened but it is probably worth noting that I tried enqueuing a jQuery 3.0 src script in the functions.php file so that I could write a JavaScript script in a more modern version of jQuery (it currently uses jQuery 1.4).

After I had problems with jQuery 3.0 not allowing pictures to load in the slideshow I removed the script from the functions.php file and now it works fine. What should I do to make the slideshow buttons and ‘up arrow button to bring me to the top of the page’ (I am not sure what these buttons are called, sorry if this causes some confusion)

Since the gallery slideshows seem to use JetPack, should I just reinstall JetPack somehow to resolve this? It would be awesome if I didn’t have to add all of the slideshows back into the website because there are A LOT of pictures that are not well named to indicate where they go.

If you need I can make the website live so you can view it but I would rather not as this bug would be incredibly frustrating for any real visitors and I want to avoid a bad first impression of the website.

I can’t seem to reproduce on my end.

If you’d rather not make the issue public on your site, could you contact us via this contact form, and give us a link to a test page including a slideshow, so we can take a closer look?

    Thanks!

Here is one of the pages that include a malfunctioning slideshow:

Could you try to switch to one of the default themes for a few minutes, and let me know if the problem remains?

That seems to have fixed the issue. It is strange because I do not remember having that problem when I first installed the theme. I will just look for another theme to use for the website in place of Sydney.

If you’ve made any changes to the JavaScript libraries loaded in that theme, it might be worth reverting those changes, to see if it helps. The issue seems to be a JavaScript error.

    I hope this helps.
