Three days ago I noticed that my hits do not move. The most I get per article is 4 or 5 hits, and usually I get between 2,000 and 3,000 hits. Some of the articles have been shared many times, so it is certain that they’ve been read. I checked exclusions, all seems ok. Any idea how to solve this problem? Could I have a bug in my theme? Thanks.

Have you enabled exclusion tracking to see why/if the hits are being excluded?

dear Greg Ross, thanks for replying. As I mentioned in my subject line, I did check all the exclusions…I also enabled exclusion tracing, but there is no explanation why they are being excluded. Do you have any other suggestions/ideas on how to fix this?

If they are not showing up in the exclusions list, then WP Statistics isn’t getting them.

Have you installed any plugins recently? Caching or security related ones?

    No…I haven’t. Do I need to? Tnx.

No, it sounds like you just aren’t having the hits to your page, if they are not showing up in either the page hits or the exclusion tracking, we aren’t seeing them.

You mean people are not visiting my page? This is impossible. I saw one article being shared 23 times on fb, there is not way that no one clicked on it to read it. However, in stats it only shows 2 views. So yes, I am getting hits but the numbers are not rational. Something has been wrong for 3 days now. It dropped from 5,000 visits to 78 a day. There must be a solution to this, I assume. Thanks

23 shares on fb could very well result in 0 page hits, click through rates are very low in general.

Beyond that, if you aren’t seeing the “missing” hits in the exclusion tracking, then WP Statistics is never receiving the hits. With exclusion tracking on we record every hit to the page that we receive.

The only explanation in that case is something is blocking the hits before WP Statistics runs, like a caching or security plugin.

My only other suggestion would be to disable any other plugins that might be interfering and see if your hits come back. If you can identify which plugin it is I can see if there is any way to resolve the conflict.

These are all the plugins I am using: AddToAny Share Buttons, Akismet, Contact Widgets, Facebook Likebox Widget & Shortcode, Gallery Slice, Huge IT Image Gallery, Huge IT VIdeo, Jetpack by WordPress.com, Kirki Toolkit, Meta Box, Ninja Forms, Pretty Link Lite, Search & Replace, Sidekick, WP Statistics and WP101 Video Tutorials.

It is only telling me that there are 2,780 exclusions, but not the reason why.

I have hit activate and deactivate several times under the settings for the stats to see if that works, but no luck.

Also, I would be fine if no one visited the site, but it can’t be true because I have gotten many emails regarding the articles as well, so something must be blocking the visits and hits. It dropped to almost 90% in three days.

    Thanks for your help Greg!

@greg ross, I was hoping that you’d be able to help solve the stats issue? my counter went from 6,000 visits to 75 daily in the last few days. I would appreciate if you’d help me resolve the issue if you can. thanks a lot.

Since WP Statistics is recording hits your not seeing unusual exclusions, I can’t help beyond that as I don’t know what else to suggest.

Thanks so much for your deep concerns, for taking the time to help, and most importantly, for resolving the issue. 😉

Hey dijanam83, thanks for opening this thread and Greg Ross, thanks for trying to find the answer.
I have the same problem: Since 4 days my counter for the blog articles does not work anymore. Interestingly, the counter for visits on the website works, we are just talking about the counter for the articles.
4 days ago I installed “WP Live Chat”-Plugin on WordPress. Since then it does not work and I do not have an idea how to fix it.
    Do you, Greg?

@bgeesmann, have you tried disabling WP Live Chat?

Have you double checked to make sure the page statistics are enabled in Statistics->Settings->General?

Are you seeing any error messages in your PHP log?

For future reference, you should open a new thread to ask a new questions instead of tagging on to the end of an already closed one, thanks.
