Mosaic cropping into squares
-
Hey,
I recently moved over from the free version of wordpress.com to a self hosted version.
WordPress – 4.5.1
Jetpack – 4.0.2On the free version a tiled mosaic with 2 vertical images looked like this Example
On the self hosted version using Jetpack it looks like this Example
Here’s an example (functions the same on the default 2016 theme):
http://www.unscriptedexplorations.com/2016/05/02/post/As you can see, the self hosted version crops the images down into squares even though the mosaic (full size) was chosen. Tiled columns produce the same result.
When you click on the images the carousel launches and they are pixelated, stretched squares within the carousel as you can see here.
The original images can be found here:

http://i0.wp.com/www.unscriptedexplorations.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_3763.jpgIt seems to add “?zoom=2&resize=416%2C312” to the end of the images.
I have switched over the the default theme (Twenty Sixteen) and have disabled all plugins besides Jetpack.
This is what is enabled in Jetpack:
– Carousel
– Comments
– Custom
– Infinite Scroll
– Protect
– Sitemaps
– Spelling and Grammar
– Subscriptions
– Tiled Galleries
– Widget VisibilityCan anybody shed some light on why it doesn’t just leave the images alone instead of turning them into squares?
Thanks,
Mario
