• Hey,

I recently moved over from the free version of wordpress.com to a self hosted version.

    WordPress – 4.5.1
    Jetpack – 4.0.2

On the free version a tiled mosaic with 2 vertical images looked like this Example

On the self hosted version using Jetpack it looks like this Example

Here’s an example (functions the same on the default 2016 theme):
    http://www.unscriptedexplorations.com/2016/05/02/post/

As you can see, the self hosted version crops the images down into squares even though the mosaic (full size) was chosen. Tiled columns produce the same result.

When you click on the images the carousel launches and they are pixelated, stretched squares within the carousel as you can see here.

The original images can be found here:
    http://i0.wp.com/www.unscriptedexplorations.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_3767.jpg
    http://i0.wp.com/www.unscriptedexplorations.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_3763.jpg

It seems to add “?zoom=2&resize=416%2C312” to the end of the images.

I have switched over the the default theme (Twenty Sixteen) and have disabled all plugins besides Jetpack.

This is what is enabled in Jetpack:
    – Carousel
    – Comments
    – Custom
    – Infinite Scroll
    – Protect
    – Sitemaps
    – Spelling and Grammar
    – Subscriptions
    – Tiled Galleries
    – Widget Visibility

Can anybody shed some light on why it doesn’t just leave the images alone instead of turning them into squares?

    Thanks,
    Mario

Hi Mario! I had a look at your site, and noticed that you have re-enabled plugins and switched to a non-default theme. Could you temporarily disable your plugins once again, and revert to a default theme (like Twenty Sixteen)? Let me know when you’ve done so, and then I’d be happy to take another look at the gallery issue. Thanks!

    Hey Ryan,

Everything should be back to stock, thanks for taking a look!

Hi Mario, thanks for giving that a shot! It looks like the issue still persists, so we can rule out theme or plugin conflict as the likely culprit.

Could you let me know how you added the gallery to your post? And does this happen with all galleries? Or just some?

Let me know about the above, and we can go from there.
