I’d wait for the SportsPress team to advise you. But just brain storming, you could:
(A) Add John Smith as a player, and also add him as a coach. On his player page, you could add the shortcode to his staff/coach statistics, and on his coach page, you could add the shortcode for his player statistics.
(B) Personally, I would just have a link to the player statistics on the staff/coach page that says “Player Profile”, and have a link on the player page to the staff/coach page that says “Coaching Profile”.
(C) You can add positions (for players and staff), but if you did add a “player-and-coach” position, I’m thinking it would require coding knowledge; and overall, you never want player statistics to get mixed in with staff statistics.
So as mentioned in (B), I’d enter him as a coach and as a player, keeping the data seperate from one another, just be sure to put a simple hyperlink on the page linking to one another.
Good luck.

A/B seems the simplest solution so I’ll give that a go.

Hi!
“Do I just enter him as a player & staff member or is there another way of logging it?”
That’s the best way to do it as this kind of data is in different places (we don’t have for example a data type “people” and inside of it players or team staff, we have “players” and “staff” in diffferent places)
