I find it hard to believe that I’m the only one who has this problem…
I just emailed in to them and they’re giving me some info about Open Graph Tags – totally new to me, but here’s the link in case you want more info!

Thanks noekhalfa!
That’s the thing, it should be a feature because opengraph tags need to be changed to the old URL.
BUT the problem is, when you change (whenever you figure out how to, that’s a different story) the URL to the old URL = it will show the share count of the old URL, and any shares that are done on the new URL will not be added to the total share count. Which is weird because if you collected 1000 shares on the old URL, and the new URL is now at 2500 shares = you will see the total shares as 1000 (again, if you somehow figured out an easy way to change the opengraph tag)
I think this is a significant limitation of SumoMe because as a sharing plugin, they should provide an option to:
a) add an old URL where there were shares
b) ability to add the old share count to the new url’s share count, so the number grows

We 100% pull your #’s from the social network themselves. Its up to you to manage your URL’s that are being tracked by the social network themselves. This maintains the integrity of your share number as its using the actual data being stored by the social network.
We simply display the number the social network has recorded for your URL’s. I would recommend contacting the social network you’re using and asking them to revise how your numbers are stored. 🙂
