Buddypress compatible?

I love the way the login screen looks with this plugin, but clicking the login icon on my menue results in a 404 about 50% of the time. I started getting several 404’s when clicking admin dashboard items seemingly unrelated to login / registration at all. I deactivated the plugin and the 404’s stopped. I read a few posts down that there was a buddypress registration issue which was out of your control (“Possible custom URL conflicting”)? Does this mean buddypress sites shouldnt be using the plugin?
